LES CONTAMINES MONTJOIE

A traditional mountain village nestled at the foot of the mighty Mont Blanc, les Contamines-Montjoie offers an unrivalled combination of awe-inspiring scenery, amazing skiing, historic charm and carefully preserved natural environments.

Facing the 3rd largest glacier in France, Les Domes du Miage, the village boasts spectacular vistas and an authentic feel. The resort has invested heavily in state-of-the-art lifts, grooming equipment and snow making facilities in recent years. It offers skiers all the benefits of a modern infrastructure, but the village retains its historic charm and has been developed sympathetically. You really will enjoy the best of both worlds at Les Contamines.

If you require further information, the tourist office is located in the centre of the village. The friendly staff speak several languages and will always be happy to help.

THE NATURE RESERVE

Extending from the village to the Aiguille Nord de Tré-la-Tête (3892 m), the Nature Reserve is home to a wonderful array of alpine flora and fauna.

The only protected area in the Mont-Blanc range, this 5,500 acre reserve is the highest in France and features diverse habitats from Alpine forests to exposed peaks.

ASTERS

The nature reserve is managed by the conservation group Asters with the aim of protecting the environment, enhancing environmental awareness and hosting scientific studies.

Why not visit the free exhibition during your trip, call in anytime during the day. The exhibition is situated next to the tourist office on the ground floor of the town hall.

STAY AWAY FROM THE GROUSE

Wildlife is particularly vulnerable during the winter months and so it is crucial to minimise disturbance. There is an area where you should avoid skiing as it disturbs the wild grouse and this is clearly signposted at the foot of the Buche Croisee chairlift.
